Objects in Scene
Chen Shu-Chiang,Wu Meng-Chang,Hung Hsuan collection of recyclables
On the first weekend of July, we are excited to share with you the new exhibition at Galerie Pierre, “Objects in Scene”, a group show featuring three artists. Each artist gathers different materials and, through carving, assembling, and reinterpreting, imbues their creations with unique artistic meanings.
Chen Shu-Chiang enjoys working with natural materials, especially coarse stones, rusted iron, and other objects that emphasize time and past experiences. These are reassembled into artworks that reflect the artist’s inner responses.
Wu Meng-Chang creates stone sculptures that exude a sense of tranquility and stability. By preserving the natural fracture lines of the stone, Wu intuitively combines and carves the material, forming a symbiotic relationship that explores a new dynamic.
Hung Hsuan, in this exhibition, works with construction materials and discarded building elements, re-sewing their outlines and edges. Through selection, erasure, assembly, and a reimagined understanding of the medium, the artist constructs works meant to be both collectible and enjoyable. The once solid materials are transformed with a sense of humor and playfulness.
