Harvesting Clay

The Living Ceramic Exhibition

We are excited to share with you the first exhibition of 2024 at Galerie Pierre—“Harvesting Clay: The Living Ceramic Exhibition”—featuring six ceramic artists with diverse styles, showcasing lighthearted and engaging functional ceramics.

Veteran ceramic artist Wang Mei-yun presents elegant works with a slightly utilitarian touch, using her signature wood-fired techniques and subtle glaze variations. Su Shu-mei, who previously exhibited at Galerie Pierre, brings innovative hand-built pieces such as spiral buttons and ribbed coils, crafting unique flower vases. Additionally, Hu Huiqin, known for her animal depictions and sculptures, adds a lively atmosphere to the exhibition with her vivid and playful ceramics.

Three invited artists making their first appearance at the gallery—Chris Lo, Li Zhi-xuan, and Tsai Pei-Ting—also offer diverse expressions of ceramic artistry. Chris Lo uses local Taiwanese clay and high-temperature glazes to create works that emphasize simplicity and tactile experience. Li Zhi-xuan’s blue and blue-and-white long (round) plates showcase watercolor-like glaze transformations. The youngest artist, Tsai Pei-Ting, introduces soft, warm light through her micro-architectural ceramic forms, creating serene and healing corners within the space.
