Taichung City Teacher Chang Foundation's service results for 2022 to 2023 include a total of 180 volunteer “Teacher Chang's” accompanying and guarding the public's mental health in the 1980 Public Welfare Line, serving a total of 30,173 people; providing a total of 221 public welfare lectures on mental health on campus, serving a total of 57,762 people; assisting new students at junior high schools in remote and rural areas or in educational priority areas in order to enhance their adaptability, serving 20 schools and providing 1,274 people; and providing group counseling services for teenagers targeting highly concerned students in schools and social welfare units. The program provided services to 20 schools, serving a total of 1,274 people, and provided youth group counseling services for students in schools and social welfare units with high levels of concern. A total of 408 people were served in 8 sessions. More than 80,000 people were served, and correct mental health messages were conveyed.
In 2023, the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) promoted the “Listening to Young Hearts' Initiative”, hoping that by subsidizing 3 times of psychological counseling services per person, the young population would know how to seek help. The reason for this is that the mortality rate of suicides among the young population aged between 15-30 years old has continued to increase after 2014 years, and the number of people diagnosed with mental related diseases has also gradually climbed, so we hope that we can use the “Asking for help” to replace the regularization of services for suicides.
The expectation of “Asking for help” coincides with the services provided by the Teacher Chang Foundation. At the same time, the program services also found that the rate of help-seeking among 15-24 year olds was lower than that of 25-30 year olds, and the Center also found that “willingness to seek help” was particularly important to the 15-24 year olds through the frontline services, so the way to make them accept the services, find resources on their own, and intervene will be an important factor in solving the problem. Therefore, the way to make them willing to accept the service, find resources on their own and intervene in the process will be an important factor in solving the problem.
In the future, the Taichung City “Teacher Chang Foundation” will integrate with seven colleges and universities in central Taiwan, so that “Teacher Chang”, will go into the campus, so that the psychological counseling service can be more accepted and seen; the press conference of “Let Love continue” has also invited seven college partners to participate in the launching ceremony, including National Changhua University of Education,National Chung Hsing University,Feng Chia University, Asia Unversity, Ling Tung University and HungKuang University.
Together with Ms. LilyChang, Director of the Taichung City Teacher Chang Foundation, they will work together to protect the mental health of the young people.Ms. Chang has always looked forward to the services of “Teacher Chang” to become the warmest and strongest support for the young people, and even more so, she looks forward to next year's innovative services, which can be more closely related to the needs of the young people, listen to their worries and helplessness, guide them into the channels of help, and at the same time, find their own way, hoping to carry on the spirit of unending love, love without end to create a better life.
