New Exhibition “nature on Canvas” Opens at Luminance Art Space

【Nature on Canvas : Exhibition by Kousuke Ohta and Ji George】/Images by Luminance Art Space

The Taiwan Association for the Development of Arts for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped (TADAMHI) and the Tonbook Dragonfly Bookstore have joined hands to organize the“Nature on Canvas : Exhibition by Kousuke Ohta and Ji George”in the Gallery of Light from now on and will hold the opening tea party in the afternoon of this 27th. Through the wonderful creations of the renowned Japanese artist, Hirasuke Ota, and Taiwanese artist, Gigi Gouji, the artwork of these two artists will cross the border of the international community, and together they will set off a dynamic summer art party.

Ji George is awardee of the 4th Creation Award of Luminance Art Space. He cleverly uses descriptive brushwork and delicate expressive ability in composition to integrate different colors into the painting. The pictures show rich saturated colors by interweaving abstract planes and figurative symbols.

Kousuke Ohta is a famous Japanese artist and lives in Fukuoka. Although he faced with Autism and ADHD, he has great enthusiasm for art since his childhood, and the creations are unrestrained in the freedom. This exhibition is Kousuke’s second solo exhibition in Taiwan, and is the first time to join the exhibition with Taiwanese artist. His paintings are known for high chroma compositions and themes of natural plants and animals, resonating with George’s. Through the canvas, Kousuke Ohta and Ji George were engaging in a dialogue across languages.

The opening tea party was held at the Luminance Art Space this afternoon, with artist Ji George in person and Kousuke Ohta represented by his brother through a video link. With the introduction of George's mother and Kousuke's brother, the audience was able to understand the content and meaning of the two artists' works. Related cultural and creative merchandise was also sold at the exhibition, allowing the general public to get their hands on these exquisite artistic creations through the purchase of postcards and other peripherals.

Mr. Chen Chi-Sing, President of the Taiwan Association for the Development of Arts for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped (TADAMH), expressed his gratitude to Dragonfly Bookstore for this opportunity to collaborate with the two artists, who through their artwork engage in cross-country dialogues and exchanges, as if they were a vibrant wilderness blooming with their unique styles in the midst of the summer season, and cordially invited the audience from all walks of life to join in on the festivities.
