How did this successful woman carve out her own niche in the male-dominated real estate industry? What are her strengths as a woman?
Chang Lily shared her insights from her presentations to international women, saying, "In the real estate development industry, many people ask me, 'What are the advantages of women?'"
"For me, I never see 'woman' as a limitation, nor as a label. I believe the most important thing is still professionalism. But women do bring a different perspective to this industry—that is, care and respect."
"I often say that good development is not just about building a structure, but about respecting both the environment and people."
"First is respect for the environment. When planning each site, we pay special attention to natural conditions, such as old trees, soil texture, and the relationship with the surrounding community. We hope that the architecture will not destroy the environment, but rather coexist with it."
"Second is respect for people. This includes neighbors, the construction team, clients, and the company's employees." Architecture is a collaborative work; only through mutual respect and cooperation can truly valuable spaces be created.
Chang Lily stated, "In Taiwan, we are actually very fortunate. Women are gradually gaining respect in society and the workplace; we've even had a female president and a female mayor. This social environment allows women to leverage their expertise and influence in various fields."
"I believe that women bring not only ability, but also a more inclusive and compassionate leadership style. This long-term accumulation of care, sharing, and philanthropic participation is gradually shaping a company's brand."
"That's why I often say: brand power is market power. When a company truly cares about the environment, respects people, and makes long-term contributions to society, the market will naturally give it trust and support. This is also the important role I believe women can play in the future development of cities."
