Lily Chang|Commercial Times by ZENG,LI-FANG

“When I was a little girl, I accompanied my mom to the food market, and when I saw someone begging on the side of the road, I pulled the corner of my mom's coat to beg for money, and then I ran over and gave it to the person! Lily Chang said with a smile. Maybe it's her nature, Lily Chang can't see others suffer, she is a multi-tasker, even in the busy work, she never forgets to participate in public welfare activities, “what is taken from the community, used in the community,” is her best portrayal.

Lily Chang is one of the founders of the Taiwan Action Buddha Education Association , and has long been involved in sponsoring the Teacher Chang Foundation, the Taiwan Arts Association for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped, and the Chusheng Cultural Association, among other public service organizations. Seeing the serious shortage of labor in the construction industry, Lily Chang promotes the “Vow to Success Training Program”, which cooperates with Dongshi Higher Education Institute and the Erlin College of Commerce and Industry to cultivate skilled workers in woodworking and clay work; Lily Chang contributes both money and effort to public service and is still the head of the visiting team of the Association. To this day, she is still the visiting leader of the Action Buddha Education Association, and visits students in the countryside with the association every year.

It is worth mentioning that Lily Chang is also a collector of artworks, and has collected many paintings by famous artists such as Chu Teh-chun, Zao Wou-ki, Chang Yu, and Pan Yuliang. When she lived in the U.S., she and her husband often visited art galleries, and she found that Taiwanese painters painted either in a realistic style or in an impressionistic style, which was different from that of foreign countries. 1989, a year after the establishment of Treasure Dragon Corp, she set up an affiliated enterprise, “Galerie Pierre Art Center,” with the aim of caring about the local community and looking at the international arena, in order to not only promote the art she loved, but also to support the artists. Since 1992, the Center has been promoting Taiwan's new generation to the international auction market.

Lily Chang knows that many artists are not able to satisfy themselves despite their talent, so she sponsors more than 10 artists with more than $10 million each year, so that artists can receive $30,000 or $50,000 per month to help them create their works without fear. Many avant-garde artists have climbed up the creative ladder because of Lily Chang's sponsorship.

When she was in elementary school, her teacher's comment to Lily Chang was “innocent, lively, and loves to talk,” to which she would have added “loves to sing! At the transition ceremony for the President of the Real Estate Association , tailgates, spring cocktails, and other lively occasions, you can always see Lily singing and dancing on stage, bringing joy to the scene with songs such as “Moonlight in the City,”“The Moon Represents My Heart,”“Just Like Your Tenderness,” and “Lover's Tears”; Because of her love of singing, she even recorded a CD “Lily's Forgotten Time” at her own expense to give to her friends and relatives, which contains 14 of her favorite classic old songs, and she has won the titles of “Fifi Au Yeung of the construction industry” and “Tsai Chin of the construction industry” in the industry.
