The “Real Estate Excellence Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner”, the highest annual event in the real estate industry, was held on July 24, 2023 at the Grand Hyatt Taipei. Attending guests included Mr. Cheng Wen-chan, Vice President of the Executive Yuan, Mr. Wu Tang-an, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Chen Yen-bo, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Mr. Wu Hsin-hsiu, Director of the Department of Construction of the Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Wang Rong-jin, Director of the Institute of Architectural Research of the Ministry of the Interior, and other dignitaries from all sectors of the real estate industry, government and academia, who all shared in the joy of the awards with all of the winning entities from both the public and private sectors.
In her opening speech, President Lily Chang of FIABCI-TAIWAN, the organizer of the event, said that since she became the President, many events have been affected by epidemics, and in the face of the recent impact of typhoons, it is not easy for the “FIABCI-TAIWAN Real Estate Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony” to be able to resume the combination of a dinner party format and to be held as scheduled, and she is especially thankful to all the award recipients for attending today's event without hindrance, regardless of the winds and rains. She especially thanked all the awardees for attending today's ceremony to share the honor of receiving the awards and to dine together!
President Lily Chang also expressed her empathy for the severe challenges of labor and material shortages in recent years, and her admiration for the efforts of the participating organizations in demonstrating their dedication to architectural aesthetics, environmental quality, and sustainable management. At this year's FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards in Miami, Taiwan won two gold and two silver medals, gaining international recognition. Mrs. Chang called on the outstanding works of this year's National Award for Construction Excellence to have the opportunity to enter the international arena and compete for the Global Award for Construction Excellence with construction works from all over the world, so that the world can see the creativity and uniqueness of Taiwan.
Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata, President of the FIABCI (term 2023-2024), also traveled from Indonesia to Taiwan to give his blessing to all the awardees. He said that the core mission of FIABCI is to encourage and share good examples in order to promote synergy and cooperation within the alliance, and he believed that FIABCI-Taiwan's Real Estate Excellence Awards , while recognizing excellence in construction, perfectly embodies the spirit of the FIABCI.
Nanyuan Huang, Chief Convenor of the Jury, emphasized that with a high degree of consensus on architectural concepts, many of the 2023 entries have made great strides in aesthetic creativity, sustainable practices, construction quality, digital cloud management, and the promotion of local cultural characteristics. It was not easy for these works to win the award under the fair and stringent judgment of all jurors! Finally, on behalf of all the jurors, he expressed his deepest respect to the winners as the Chief Convenor.
In 2023, the recipients of the “Special Contribution to Land Construction Award” were Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen of Taichung City Government, Vice Mayor Lin Chin-jung of Kaohsiung City Government, Secretary General Chiu King-bin of New Taipei City Government, and Ching-Hua Chang, Founder and Presiding Architect of Jiudian & Associates; the recipient of the “Architectural Personality of the Year Award” was Chien-Tai Chang, Co-Founder and CEO of Yung Luen Logistics Development Corporation; and it is worthwhile to note that the “Architecture Personality of the Year Award” was presented to the winner by the New Taipei City Government. In 2023, the Urban and Rural Development Bureau of the New Taipei City Government won two “Overall Excellent Achievement Awards”, the winners of which were the “Newly Constructed Social Housing Turnkey Project for the North Side of Central New Village in Xindian District” and the “Newly Constructed Social Housing Turnkey Project for the Youth in the Tucheng Yuanhe Section”; and the “Overall Excellent Achievement Award” went to the “Overall Planning for the Lungshan Elementary School Campus and Demolition and Reconstruction of Old School Buildings” by the HsinChu Municipal Government.
Lily Chang, President of the Board of Directors, said that the success of the National Award for Construction Excellence is due to the dedicated guidance of the Convenor and Vice-Convenor, a group of tireless judges, a responsible work team, and enthusiastic sponsors, which made the event go beyond excellence and reach a higher level!
